A drone test centre, unique in Europe, is about to start operating in Huelva.
The Regional Ministry of University, Research and Innovation will jointly manage the Unmanned Aircraft Test, Training and Assembly Centre (CEUS).
The regional government has invested a total of 17 million euros in the development of this project, located in the municipality of Moguer (Huelva), both in the construction works and in the transfer of the land of the ‘El Arenosillo’ Experimentation Centre (CEDEA).
The Minister José Carlos Gómez Villamandos reaffirmed this week in the Parliamentary Commission the ‘commitment’ of the Regional Government to this project, which has materialised not only through financial support, but also in the streamlining of the administrative procedures necessary for the regularisation of the CEDEA land.
What will be tested at the specialised drone centre in Huelva?
This scientific-technical infrastructure will be used to test and certify medium and large unmanned aircraft, something unique in Europe for this type of vehicle, and is promoted by the Andalusian Regional Government and the Ministry of Defence, through INTA. The agreement signed in June 2022 by both administrations for the execution and management of the infrastructure entrusted the parties to define the formula for the management, financing and operation of the CEUS. The agreed path will allow for co-management that must be reflected in the composition and functioning of the governing bodies.
